BECA 301: Media Literacy

The term “guerilla media” suggests a grass-­roots approach to persuasion. It is a type of alternative media that is produced by ordinary people with the ultimate goal of promoting social change. In the BECA 301 Media Literacy class, students are assigned a semester long project to produce a message using low cost, accessible media. This is what resulted:

First cut of our project! Documenting our assignment as we went around SF State Campus handing out “ecofortunes” made from recycled vinyl records with song lyrics connecting to environmental awareness inside!

We are a group of San Francisco college students who made this video in order to spread awareness about the reality of recycling on our school’s campus. We hope that this video is informative, and will inspire you to recycle next time you are given the opportunity!

This video was made for a Gorilla Media Project at SFSU. Our attempt is to raise awareness on food deserts, especially in the Bay Area. We apologize in advance for copywright issues, this is project was for an education purpose. Please sign our petition so the Department of Health can stop the distribution of poison into our communities
